Friday Listening: 19

I hadn't been playing the trumpet for long when a family friend loaned me a CD of jazz trumpeter Chris Botti to listen to. Since then, I've been hooked.

Botti has performed with just about every big name around including Sting, Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra, Lady Gaga and John Mayer (by no means an exhaustive list). Over the last number of years however he has been more active as a soloist and produced numerous albums, becoming America's largest-selling instrumental artist.

Here is his wonderfully understated and powerful performance of the American national anthem at an NFL game in 2014.
