Friday Listening: 15

There's not a lot Allen Vizzutti can't do. Not only has he played on iconic soundtracks of films like 'Back to the Future' and 'Star Trek', he has also performed in sessions with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Barbara Streisand, Chuck Mangione, Prince and Neil Diamond. Beyond that, he is an hugely successful soloist and composer. I can't really do his biography justice on a short post like this but you can read his full bio here.

I had the pleasure of hosting Allen for an online class during the Berkshire Trumpet Workshop in 2021 and not only was he incredibly insightful and entertaining, he was so kind and gracious with his time and really went above and beyond to help each student.

Here is a recording of one of his signature pieces, 'The Carnival of Venus'. So much beautiful playing and jaw-dropping technique to enjoy crammed into one video.

This week's recording is a collision of so many good things. Jacob Collier's original arrangement and performance of 'Danny Boy', as part of his Maida Vale session, is a truly stunning piece of music

After quite the break (insert excuse here), Friday listenings are back. Thanks to those of you that got in touch to say that you had missed them, or to give suggestions of recordings to share. I start
