Friday Listening: 12

There are countless arrangements and recordings of Bach's "Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme," but this particular version (performed by Barclay Brass and arranged by David J. Miller) is simply amazing. The Barclay Brass are an ensemble comprised of some of the best brass musicians in the Washington DC area, boasting players from the top military bands and major symphony orchestras. From some wonderful and understated ensemble playing to some truly spine-tingling piccolo trumpet playing at the end of the piece, this particular recording is definitely worth a listen.
