Friday Listening: 1

Listening to great playing and great music is not only incredibly important, but it is also one of the most enjoyable ways to improve as a musician. For a number of years now I have been sending out a weekly video every Friday to my brass students as suggestion of things they could be listening to. This year I thought I would now also post each video that I send to my students to this site as well.

This week's video is of the late great Ryan Anthony. Ryan Anthony was a titan of the trumpet world and amongst many other achievements, he was part of Canadian Brass (many videos of them to come) and principal trumpet of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. After being diagnosed with a particularly aggressive form of cancer, multiple myeloma, in 2012, he not only continued to perform but also set up his own foundation, "Cancer Blows". Ryan Anthony passed away on 23rd June 2020. More information about the work of Cancer Blows can be found at www.cancerblows.com
